Today is Mother’s Day in Guatemala. We celebrate all the mothers who care for, support, and love their children. Take advantage of the day and give your mom a BIG hug! 💕❤
In our Young Leadership program, the leaders have begun their own community investigation. One group has an objective of promoting reading in Zone 3 and the other group wants to understand the difference between youth who finish and don’t finish their studies. Everyone is going to start by interviewing members of the community. We are very excited to see their results and share them with the community!
Last week at Go Girls! we had a guest speaker present on a very important topic: reproductive health. We spoke about the physical, emotional, and hormonal changes that are a part of adolescence. We answered lots of questions, which is just another reason to discuss these very important topics that are a part of growing up!
Yesterday we went to visit our preschool in Sacalá! It was a visit full of games, books, art, and hula-hoops!

2. Parking Information
The FUNdraiser admission ticket includes parking in the church parking lot, so do not pay at the machine in the parking lot.
There will be a service in the church upstairs, which will conclude around 6PM when parishioners will be exiting the parking lot. We are encouraging you to arrive around 6:30PM when there will be more parking space available.

4. Feel free to distribute this reminder to anyone you think may be interested especially our supporters who may not have access to email.
5. In compliance with Canada Revenue Agency regulations, FUNdraiser ticket purchases and donations paid for with Visa or MasterCard will appear on your statement as “Horizons of Friendship”.
Receipts for income tax purposes will be mailed to recipients in the weeks following the event.
Silent Auction, Bar, and Mercado purchases paid for with Visa or MasterCard will appear on your statement as “Planting Seeds International”.

With your support, we raised $4,860, well over our goal of $4,000! The money we raised will not only go to recovering our losses and repairing the damages to our school, but it will also allow us to implement a security system to protect ourselves from another incident in the future.

It is to our great dismay that our San Lucas preschool was broken into on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Amongst the items stolen were a desktop computer, printer, microwave, speakers, and approximately 1,500 Quetzales in cash, totaling around $3,000 USD in stolen property. Additionally, we estimate approximately $1,000 USD more in damages resulting from broken windows, locks, and doors, totaling around $4,000 USD in losses.
We are writing to our supporters to ask that you please help us recover these costs, as this equipment is essential to the day-to-day operations of our preschools, and we want to ensure that all students enrolled in our San Lucas preschool are able to continue to attend classes uninterrupted.
A small donation in the amount of $30 from each of you will help us to quickly repair the damage, to purchase new equipment to ensure that we can continue providing high-quality preschool programming, and to implement security measures to protect ourselves from another incident in the future.
